New Zealand’s First ISO/IEC 42001 Certification: Datacom’s Datascape, Audited by Cianaa

Datacom's Datascape is the first New Zealand-based recipient of ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification for AI management systems, audited by Cianaa's independent auditors with the certificate issued by MSECB.

Datacom’s Datascape business unit is the first New Zealand-based organisation to achieve ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification, the international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS). The certification audit was conducted by Cianaa’s independent auditors, with the certificate issued by certification body MSECB.

Cianaa Technologies congratulates the Datascape team on this milestone. Datascape is Datacom’s AI-enabled platform for local government, used by more than 90 councils across Australia and New Zealand, which makes independently assured AI governance meaningful for a large number of communities.

A milestone in responsible AI

ISO/IEC 42001:2023 is the world’s first certifiable management system standard for artificial intelligence. It sets out how an organisation governs the way AI is developed, deployed and operated — covering AI risk assessment, impact on individuals and society, transparency, human oversight and continual improvement.

By achieving certification, Datacom’s Datascape business unit has demonstrated to an independent audit team that its AI management system meets the requirements of the standard — a strong, verifiable signal of responsible AI governance for customers, partners and regulators.

The engagement

  • Standard: ISO/IEC 42001:2023 — Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS)
  • Certified organisation: Datascape, a business unit of Datacom
  • Audit: conducted by Cianaa’s independent auditors
  • Certification body: MSECB
