Anatomy of a Strong Password
Small habits that dramatically reduce the risk of an account takeover.
✓ Do
- Use at least 12–16 characters
- Prefer a passphrase of 3–4 random words
- Use a unique password for every account
- Store them in a reputable password manager
- Turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA)
✕ Don’t
- Reuse the same password across sites
- Use names, birthdays or “Password123!”
- Share passwords by email or chat
- Write them on sticky notes or in notes apps
- Rely on simple swaps like P@ssw0rd
A passphrase likecorrect-harbor-violin-92is far stronger — and easier to remember — than P@ss1.
